Raisons d'être
a.. The CANEUS newsletter serves the internal and external goals described
below.
b.. For CANEUS, it helps maintain the immediacy of ongoing accomplishments
and exchanges among all members.
c.. The CANEUS newsletter serves, at times, as the organization's public
face. The internal role of the CANEUS newsletter, then, is to foster
solidarity, while externally it encourages awareness and support.
Goals
Internal
a.. Foster a continued sense of community among participants that, in
time, builds a heritage and minimizes geographic constraints;
b.. Facilitate rapid idea exchange and development;
c.. Acknowledge contributions of people and projects that may otherwise be
overlooked;
d.. Build common ground for feedback mechanisms that provide an overview
of CANEUS collaborations.
External
a.. Improve popular awareness of CANEUS activities;
b.. Establish the newsletter as a information resource for both
technological and general media (This means presenting topics from the
perspective of the industry sectors CANEUS has identified: Space,
Aeronautics, Transportation, Information Technology, Environment, Energy,
National Security, and Defence.);
c.. Validate CANEUS projects to sponsors and funding sources who have
trouble appreciating abstract worth in the concept stage (While the
newsletter's own distinct appearance as a credible communication vehicle is
the central point, we would also want its media impact to help persuade
people that there are real benefits in the long run.);
d.. Provide an authoritative template that gives every CANEUS project or
announcement a public relations advantage.
