Harnessing the power of global partnerships for Small Sat.

Leaders from US, Canada and Europe met in Denver Colorado on March 22-23, 2007, at the headquarters of the MicroSat Inc. to lay the foundation for the future of the CANEUS Small Satellite Working Group. The meeting outlined the initial steps that will enable new levels of cooperation in the global Small (Micro/Nano/Pico) Satellite community and provide critical capabilities in support of collaborative space missions.

Col. Tom Doyne, from the Director of Defense Research and Engineering made a presentation to the group on Operationally Responsive Space in a global context. Harnessing the power of global partnerships like the one proposed by the CANEUS working group will allow the deployment of space assets for critical applications around the globe.

It was agreed that the primary focus for the CANEUS Small Satellite Group is to mitigate the risks and costs collectively for the industry stakeholders by setting global direction, creating opportunities for flexible collaboration and to conducting strategic R&D required to accelerate the proliferation of small satellites in space.
