CANEUS 2006 Process Workshops

The two-day workshop sessions will cover 7 process workshops. To view the process workshop format see the workshop program. A step-by-step approach will be used to first evaluate the 14 candidate MNT concepts based on the concept papers/studies, and then to select the ones that could ultimately lead to the identification of candidate pilot programs. The pilot project blueprints are essentially business plans covering all aspects of prototype development and demonstration, prior to full-scale implementation. The workshop background paper for each process workshop will guide the discussion by highlighting the principal issues to be considered for a particular aspect of technology development.

Process Workshop Format

  • Composition:
    Each process workshop will be composed of:
  1. Moderators to lead the workshops;
  2. Rapporteurs to present the analysis from the first half and the final findings of the specific workshops;
  3. Lead Speakers responsible for organizing the workshops and presenting the final deliverables; and
  4. A group of panellists

Process Workshop Background Papers

PURPOSE:

The background papers for each process workshop will guide the discussion by highlighting the principal issues to be considered for particular aspects of the technology development, such as the definition and selection process for pilot projects, intergovernmental agreements, intellectual property arrangements, obtaining seed funding to initiate the project and finally, issues related to full-scale implementation.

PAPER DEVELOPMENT:

  1. Depending on the workshop topic, background papers will be researched by a CANEUS core committee expert and/or a consultant. In the latter case a request for proposals will be issued and a proposal will be selected from among those received.
  2. The Coordinator and the Advisory Committee Members for each workshop topic, listed in Appendix II, will develop their respective process workshop background papers. The CANEUS Conference Organizing Committee and the sponsors of these papers will perform the final review.
  3. The process described in each workshop background paper will be implemented at the corresponding CANEUS 2004 Workshop.
